Teilhard Paradela [Project Partner]
Teilhard Paradela, otherwise known as Ty or Telly, is a doctoral candidate in History at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Their research examines how Communication Research imagines, constitutes, and disciplines mass media audiences in the Philippines in the twentieth century. They have received a generous fellowship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) of Canada. They completed their MA in International Performance Research from the University of Amsterdam and the University of Tampere in Finland. A section from their master’s thesis on “Play in gay transvestite beauty pageants in the Philippines” (2010) had been published in the journal, Gender and Performance, published by the University of Amsterdam Press. They were born and raised in Cebu City in the Philippines.
