Teresa Barrozo [Project Partner]

Teresa Barrozo (Philippines) is a sound artist, composer and curious listener with a wide range of work for film, theatre and dance. Her compositions have been featured in the Asian Composers League Festivals in Japan and Thailand, and in the Asia-Pacific Weeks in Germany. Her film music works has been part of major international film festivals in Cannes, Venice, Toronto, Locarno and Berlin, to name a few. She was a recipient of the Ani ng Dangal Award from the Philippines’ National Commission for Culture and the Arts and has attended the Biosphere Soundscape International Internship Program. In 2014, she became a fellow of the Asian Cultural Council in New York where she focused on sound art and design, performance, and contemporary sonic practices in listening, field recording, acoustic ecology, and electronic and computer music composition. In 2021 her music and sound score was featured at the Philippine Pavilion, Expo 2020 Dubai, UAE.

Influenced by new practices in contemporary art, tradition in aural orchestration and storytelling in cinema and theatre, Barrozo’s current sound work expands to various disciplines, often exploring and exposing new perspectives in listening culture.
